The Stonefly Creeper Olive Nymph is a highly effective river nymph pattern and a consistent best seller among anglers targeting bottom feeding fish. Stonefly nymphs form a significant part of a trout’s or grayling’s diet in many river systems, particularly in faster, well-oxygenated water. This pattern is designed to imitate not only stonefly nymphs but also other larger subsurface prey such as dragonfly larvae, freshwater shrimp and even small crayfish.
Ideal for rivers and streams with rocky substrates, the Stonefly Creeper performs particularly well in early season conditions and after higher flows when larger nymphs become dislodged and active.
Please note all of our fishing flies are barbless unless otherwise stated.

How To Fish The Stonefly Creeper Olive Nymph
Slow Bottom Drift
Present the fly upstream and allow it to travel naturally along the riverbed. Keep steady contact and guide it through the current to maintain depth.
Tight-Line or Czech Style
Fish at close range with a long leader to ensure the fly tracks just above the substrate. This method improves strike detection in faster water.
Deep Indicator Setup
In deeper pools or heavy currents, use a strike indicator to keep the fly near the bottom, adjusting depth as needed to ensure natural presentation.
For best results, retrieve slowly and deliberately along the bottom, as this closely matches the natural behaviour of stonefly nymphs in their typical habitat.
