The Blob Olive offers a more natural looking take on the traditional blob style, combining strong movement with subtler colour tones that can be particularly effective on pressured waters. Rather than relying purely on brightness, the olive shade suggests general food forms while still keeping the bold presence that makes blob patterns so reliable.
This version works well when trout are feeding just beneath the surface or cruising through the upper layers, especially in clearer conditions where darker or fluorescent blobs may appear too harsh. Its fuller profile creates a noticeable disturbance in the water, helping draw attention from distance and encouraging fish to investigate. Whether fished alone or as part of a multi-fly stillwater setup, the Olive Blob is a dependable searching lure when you need to cover water and locate active fish.
Please note all of our fishing flies are barbless unless otherwise stated.

Fish the Olive Blob on the point with smaller nymphs or buzzers positioned above. The larger profile helps bring fish into range, often leading to takes on either the Blob or the droppers.
Use a controlled figure of eight to keep the fly working without over speeding it. This approach is effective when trout are moving through mid-water and responding to gentle movement.
Allow the fly time to sink before retrieving at a consistent pace. The olive tone remains visible without looking too aggressive, making it a useful option for exploring deeper areas when fish are not showing on top.
