The Duracell Hot Rib Jig Tungsten Nymph is a refined variation of the standard Duracell Jig, designed to add an extra visual trigger rather than additional weight. While it keeps the same proven jig style profile and tungsten bead, the key difference is the contrasting hot rib and a gold bead, which introduces a subtle flash of colour as the fly moves through the drift.
That rib can be particularly effective when fish are following nymphs but not fully committing, or when a small point of contrast helps the fly stand out against the riverbed. It still fishes naturally and doesn’t overpower the pattern, making it a strong choice for clear water, pressured fish, or situations where small details make a difference. Used alongside plainer nymphs, it often picks up fish that have seen plenty of more muted patterns.

Fish the nymph upstream or slightly up and across, allowing it to sink into the feeding zone before entering the main flow. Maintain steady contact and be alert for subtle line checks or hesitations.
The Duracell Hot Rib Jig Tungsten Nymph is built for effective close range Czech nymphing, especially in fast pocket water and defined channels. Fish it on a long leader with a high rod angle, keeping the connection tight and eliminating excess fly line beyond the tip. This direct contact style ensures the fly stays under full control from entry to lift out.
The tungsten bead rapidly sinks the jig nymph into the strike zone, while the jig hook pattern keeps it riding point up to minimise bottom snags. Allow the fly to lead slightly ahead of the current as it tracks along the riverbed, maintaining steady tension so even minor hesitations can be detected. The hot rib adds a subtle flash and trigger effect, often drawing confident takes from trout or grayling feeding deep in faster flows.
This pattern works well beneath a buoyant dry fly in a classic Klink and Dink or New Zealand style setup. The dry fly acts as both an indicator and a surface option, while the hot rib provides an extra trigger below without changing the overall balance of the rig.
