The Jenkins Quill Buzzer Fluorescent Orange is a highly effective midge pupa imitation designed for consistent stillwater success. Quill buzzers are widely regarded as one of the most reliable trout patterns available, producing results throughout the season. They are particularly productive during peak hatches in spring and early summer, especially across April, May and June when buzzer activity is at its highest.

This pattern features a slim stripped quill body that closely replicates the natural segmentation of a midge pupa. A red holographic thorax adds subtle flash and contrast, while the fluorescent cheeks provide a bright trigger point that increases visibility and encourages confident takes. The balanced combination of natural materials and controlled colour contrast makes it extremely effective when trout are feeding on suspended buzzers.

Please note all of our fishing flies are barbless unless otherwise stated.

How To Fish The Jenkins Quill Buzzer Fluorescent Orange

Static on a Floating Line

Present the fly on a floating line with a long leader and allow it to remain static. Gentle wind drift can provide enough movement to imitate a natural ascending pupa.

Washing Line Setup

Fish the buzzer as part of a washing line rig, positioning it on a dropper above a weighted point fly. This keeps the fly suspended at the ideal feeding depth.

Under an Indicator (Bung)

Use a strike indicator to control depth precisely. Set the fly to hang just above the feeding level and allow minimal movement, as takes often occur when the fly is static.
